Day 11
Ephesians 4:15-16
Scripture Reading(ESV)
15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,
16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Today's Reflection
Paul shows us how to balance truth and love in our relationships. 'Speaking the truth in love' means we don't avoid difficult conversations, but we approach them with care for the other person's heart. Truth without love can be harsh and damaging; love without truth can enable harmful patterns. Together, they create the conditions for genuine growth and deeper intimacy. The imagery of the body working together reminds us that healthy relationships require everyone to contribute their part. We're not meant to be independent operators but interconnected members who 'build up' one another. This happens when each person speaks truth lovingly, receives feedback humbly, and works for the good of the whole relationship rather than just their own interests. Notice that growth happens 'into him who is the head'—as we become more like Christ, our relationships naturally become more loving, more truthful, and more life-giving. Maturity in Christ leads to maturity in relationships.
