Day 14

1 John 4:19-21

Scripture Reading(ESV)

19We love because he first loved us.

20If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

21And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Today's Reflection

We conclude our journey where we began—with the recognition that all love flows from God's love for us. 'We love because he first loved us' reminds us that our capacity to love others is always rooted in our experience of being loved by God. This takes pressure off us to manufacture love from our own strength and points us back to the inexhaustible source. John's final challenge is stark but necessary: we cannot truly love God while hating those around us. Our love for God and love for others are inseparable. The relationships in our lives become both the classroom and the laboratory where we learn to love as God loves. As you reflect on these fourteen days, remember that growing in love is a lifelong journey. There will be days when love flows easily and days when it feels impossible. In both seasons, return to this truth: God's love for you is constant, complete, and transformative. Let it fill you, change you, and flow through you to bless every relationship in your life.
