Day 4

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Scripture Reading(ESV)

7So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.

8Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.

9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Today's Reflection

Paul's 'thorn in the flesh' remains mysterious, but his response is crystal clear. Three times he pleaded for its removal, yet God's answer seemed like a denial: 'My grace is sufficient for you.' But this wasn't a 'no'—it was a profound 'yes' to something greater. God's power is perfected in our weakness, meaning our limitations become the stage where His strength shines brightest. Paul's perspective transformation is remarkable: he moves from pleading for deliverance to boasting about his weaknesses. Why? Because when he is weak, then Christ's strength flows through him. This doesn't glorify suffering but reveals how God redeems it. Your current challenge might be your 'thorn'—that persistent difficulty you've prayed about repeatedly. Today, consider that God might not be removing it because He's doing something more beautiful: displaying His sufficient grace and perfect power through your imperfect circumstances. You've found refuge, experienced love, received peace, and now you're discovering that His grace is truly enough.

Reflect

How might your current weakness or challenge become an opportunity for God's strength to be displayed in your life?
