Politique de confidentialité

Ce document est fourni en anglais, et seule la version anglaise fait foi.

This Privacy Policy explains how Prism Bible ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Prism Bible Tools at prismbible.app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, name, and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them.
  • Content you create: bookmarks, notes, reading plans and your progress through them, study documents and lessons, questions you ask the study assistant, quiz results, and preferences such as narration voice.
  • Invitations: if you invite someone to a reading plan, the email address and name you enter, so we can send them the invitation.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.

Information from Google sign-in

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us, and confirms that your email address is verified. We do not request access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive, or any other Google data. See How we use Google user data below.

Information collected automatically

  • Reading history: the passages you open, so we can show your recent reading. If you aren't signed in, passage references are stored without being linked to you.
  • Activity: the days you were active and when you were last active (recorded at most once an hour), the time of your last sign-in, and your approximate country. The country comes from our network provider, Cloudflare, which works it out from your connection; we receive only the country, not your IP address.
  • Usage and device data (only if you allow it): with your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used. It collects information such as pages visited, referring site, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember your language and cookie choices, and record activity. These don't need your consent because the Service can't work without them.

Google Analytics cookies are optional. They are set only if you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of our pages. If you decline or withdraw consent, Google Analytics is not loaded.

We also store some preferences in your browser's local storage, such as your theme, audio settings, cached passages, and quiz progress for visitors who aren't signed in. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.

2. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and sign you in.
  • To provide the Service: saving your content, generating reading plans, passage analysis, study materials, and audio narration, and syncing across your devices.
  • To send emails you ask for, such as account confirmation, password reset, and invitations.
  • To send a one-time welcome email when you join, reminder emails while a reading plan you started is in progress, and a weekly digest of new blog posts and features. You can turn reminders and the digest off from your profile or with the unsubscribe link in any of these emails.
  • To understand usage, fix problems, and improve the Service.
  • To prevent abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

4. How we use Google user data

When you sign in with Google, we use your name, email address, and profile picture only to create and identify your account, sign you in, and display your name and photo in the Service (for example, in the account menu and on reading plans you choose to publish). If you already have an account with the same email address, your Google sign-in is linked to that account.

We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, share it with third parties except the service providers needed to run the Service (listed below), or use it to train machine-learning models.

Prism Bible's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect Prism Bible Tools from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete the data we hold, see Your choices and rights.

5. How information is shared

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers that process data on our behalf to run the Service:
    • Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage.
    • Railway: application hosting.
    • Resend: sending email.
    • Google: sign-in (if you use it) and Google Analytics.
    • OpenAI and Anthropic: language and audio processing used to create reading plans, passage analysis, study materials, and narration. When you use these features, the passage text and anything you type into them (such as study questions or document content) are sent to these providers to produce a result. We don't include your name or email address in these requests.
    • Bible text and map providers (bolls.life, CARTO, Esri, OpenStreetMap): your browser or our server requests passages and map images from them, so they may receive your IP address and the passage or map area requested.
  • Content you choose to publish: if you make a reading plan public, its contents and your display name and profile picture are visible to anyone.
  • People you invite: invitation emails include your name and the plan you shared.
  • Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Prism Bible.
  • Business transfers: if Prism Bible is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your account, content, and activity records for as long as your account exists. When an account is deleted, we delete its profile and associated content. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period before they are overwritten. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics' retention settings.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction: you can view and update your name on your profile page, or email us to correct anything else.
  • Copy of your data (portability): download your data as a file from your profile page, or email us for a copy.
  • Deletion: delete your account and its data at any time from your profile page, or email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll complete the request within 30 days.
  • Analytics: decline or withdraw consent at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of our pages.
  • Objection and restriction: you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests, or ask us to restrict processing, by emailing [email protected].

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Residents of other places, such as California, may have similar rights. We will honor these requests as required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls that limit each account to its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Prism Bible is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. When personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or our providers' certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for details at [email protected].

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the Service.

12. Contact us

Prism Bible is responsible for your personal information. Questions or requests about this policy or your data: [email protected].
