Scripture
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Rejoice, Pray, Give Thanks
A short reflection to help you apply God's Word.
These are three of the shortest commands in the Bible, and three of the hardest: rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in every thing give thanks. Paul is not asking us to be thankful for every circumstance, but in every circumstance. Even on hard days there is something to thank God for: His presence, His promises, the next breath. Gratitude does not deny pain, but it keeps pain from having the final word. This is God's will for you today.
Affirmation
A scripture-based declaration for your day.
I choose to rejoice, to pray, and to give thanks in every circumstance, because God is with me.
Prayer
A simple prayer to help you respond to God's Word.
Father, teach me to rejoice in You, to talk with You throughout this day, and to give thanks in every situation. Open my eyes to the gifts I usually overlook. Let gratitude shape my words and attitude today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
