Day 8
1 Peter 4:8-11
Scripture Reading(ESV)
8Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
9Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
10As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
11whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies — in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Today's Reflection
Peter emphasizes that love 'covers a multitude of sins.' This doesn't mean we ignore wrongdoing or enable harmful behavior, but rather that love chooses to see beyond faults to the person's deeper worth and potential. Love extends grace, offers second chances, and refuses to keep score of offenses. The call to 'show hospitality to one another without grumbling' reveals how our attitude affects our actions. True hospitality flows from a heart that genuinely welcomes others, not from obligation or duty. Peter also reminds us that we each have gifts to serve others. In healthy relationships, we look for ways to use our unique abilities to bless those around us. Whether through encouraging words, practical help, or simply listening well, we can 'serve one another' with the gifts God has given us. This creates relationships where everyone both gives and receives, building mutual strength and joy.
