Day 6
Nehemiah 8:10
Scripture Reading(ESV)
10Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Today's Reflection
Ezra's declaration that 'the joy of the Lord is your strength' comes during a moment when God's people were weeping over their sins and failures. But Ezra redirects their focus from their weakness to God's strength, from their sorrow to sacred joy. This isn't happiness dependent on circumstances but joy rooted in God's character and promises. The Hebrew word for joy here suggests a deep gladness that wells up from knowing God's goodness, even when life is hard. This joy becomes strength—not just emotional comfort but actual power to persevere, overcome, and serve. It's the joy of knowing you belong to God, that He has purposes for your life, and that He's working all things for your good. Throughout this week, you've discovered God's refuge, love, peace, grace, and courage. Now you find that even in the midst of challenges, His joy can be your strength. This isn't denial of difficulty but the deeper reality that God's goodness is greater than your hardship.
